MacAdam Takes to the Sea is a film by Alastair of Andrew Philip’s eponymous poem. Andrew grew up in a former mining village near Falkirk. After working for the Scottish Parliament, he was ordained in Scottish Episcopal Church and was until recently curate at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh.
The film was commissioned for the second Hidden Door festival in Edinburgh and premiered in October 2010. It was also screened at StAnza, the Scottish Poetry Festival in March 2011.
The soundwork is by David Fyans, a Scottish artist with a deep and profound connection to sound, sculpture and the still and moving image. Also known as Erstlaub, he has performed live in Germany, London, Brighton and throughout Scotland.
